“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations…” Matthew 28:19
Here is a verse that we use more often than any other; “Go therefore… and make disciples.” Why the emphasis? It’s our mission as the church. As our purpose is defined in Scripture – namely to glorify God, so is our mission; make disciples! The how, where and when is all between you and God. This is the vision for ministry God gives us individually through His Spirit, through our life events, through interacting with other believers and our own personal desires to serve Him. There is no formula, but we are commanded to go!
You might be asking, what does “going” have to do with studying the Bible and Digging Deep? That answer is simple, more simple than you might believe. When we study the Word, we study with a desire to learn and grow closer to God. That study is not an end in itself. In other words we study for the purpose of not only growing up ourselves, but with the intent of growing other believers. We can either belly ache about not knowing the Word of God, and others not knowing the Word of God, or we can do something about it.
As students of the Word, you’ve watched God work in your life. Undoubtedly you’ve learned principles and truths from the Word of God only to have the Spirit of God give you opportunities to walk in those truths. Perhaps you were in a valley. Remember those valleys are opportunities to grow and see fruit in your life. It’s in those valleys that we take what we learn from the Word and faithfully, taking one small step after another, climb up the next mountain peak!
Now you’ve got the opportunity to share that with others. You have the opportunity not only to lead others to Jesus Christ, but you have the opportunity to draw along side and teach others. Even if you are not teaching, you may simply draw along side with Scripture and encourage others. You can share your experiences and remind them of the strength that you found as you studied the Word. Remind them that God is sovereign, and that He loves them. Show them His love from His Word. Don’t hold back!
I pray that in this series God has given you a passion not only to dig deeper into the Word of God and grow in your knowledge and relationship with Him, but also to get out and share what you learn with others. Do it in both word and deed. Do it for the glory of our God!
